What makes a good starter motocross bike?

I'm looking to buy a 125cc motocross bike and I was wondering what brand would make a good starter bike. I like Honda always have but I've been told that the 2005+ Kawasaki kx125 makes a great starter bike. Does it matter what I go with? Or should I just get my 2005+ Honda CR125? I'm mostly going to be just messing around in the woods but I may get into racing down the line.
