I mean, what happened that made him feel the blacks needed help, or in another way: what caused him to be aware they had rights too??
Hey meme4, I actually know how to open wikipedia, but I won't read his whole story to get to a single point that might not even be included. So where exactly in that long page is my answer?? or do you have any other resource? Guys, please help!

Umm im black and its not true ab lincoln did not care about the suffering of slaves abolitionist did. Maybe even thomas jefferson. but ab lincoln he could of cared less.

The only reason he emancipated the slaves was because he wanted to unify the country. If unifying the country meant keeping all the slaves, slaves he would of done that too.

I've researched and read everything about this man and he is not what ppl say he is. Or what the history books says he is. He did not care about slaves. He would of sleep just as well if he didn't free the slaves as long as the country was unified.

It was basically a north vs south thing not a free the slaves thing
