copy its files? I have a windows laptop with no optical or floppy drive, and its windows got messed up so it crashes while trying to load windows, even on safe mode. I have a bunch of documents i need off the hard drive before i reformat it and reinstall windows, so short of breaking it open with a chisel to pull the hard drive out and throw it in as a secondary on another PC, i was thinking maybe i could put Linux on a flash drive ( i have some 2gb flash drives, and 120gb usb hard drives) and then if i can get the computer to run and let me look at the file system on the original hard drive, i can copy all my important documents off through USB onto my 120gb portable hard drive, and then use a USB-optical drive to reinstall windows xp on the laptop.
Is what i'm trying to do possible? What type of linux do i need to put on that flash drive?
