maybe I could provide some more detail to what I am looking at. If a local community member is at a protest of some actions federal agents raid (they have set up a "police raid" on a building, closed down the street, the local community has come out to protest the raid, taking advantage of the closed street, the local sheriffs are on duty making sure the protesters dont cause trouble, but powerless to the raid), and when the agents begin driving off with evidence, protesters are going to naturally try to get in the way of the vehicle. if this vehicle "nudges" a protester out of the way, could it be qualified as assault with a deadly weapon? what legal actions would the protesters be able to take, and would the local sheriff have to take action (as they are there to uphold order on both sides, and assault is as much a crime if the protesters do something dangerous as if the federal agents do something dangerous). just interested as these answers may be of benefit to some local community members.
