What language was Nabokov's Lolita originally written in?

Nabokov wrote both in English and in Russian, from various information I've read, and I read somewhere that Lolita was originally written in English and not in Russian. Does anyone know this for a fact? I have a paper to write on a novel of my choice but the original language of publication has to be English, and I was thinking of doing it on this one, though I need confirmation on the language.
