I really enjoy learning different languages, but was confused as to which language would compliment my major the most.I love Spanish art and already have three years of Spanish under my belt.I've read that there are lots of essays regarding art that are in French. However, I know there is a vast amount of Italian artwork and history. Plus, the university that I am attending has a study abroad program to Italy that is only for Art and Art History Students. So, which language would I get more bang for my buck?ANY guidance would be greatly appreciated!!!

Personally I'd go ahead with Italian. You can't learn every langauge and you have smoe incentive to learn Italian, so go for it.

I would go with Italian or French in addition to Spanish. The romance languages are similar in many ways, so you can probably do well. French though has some really horrid spelling rules......plus a lot of hard-to-pronounce sounds

It would depend on your own personal preference and if you have a concentration for your art history. For example, if I were an art history major (which I'm not, just a drawing/anthropology major), I would take Spanish. This is because I've taken four years of high school Spanish and Precolumbian art history interests me the most. Since majority of the countries at precolumbian sites speak Spanish, Spanish would compliment. (Or same thing if you're interested in Roman Art the most, Italian would be a good fit.)But if you don't know if you want to focus on a particular time period, just learn whichever language you enjoy the most. To me, there's no point learning a language if you are not interested in learning it!Good luck! :)
