A friend of mine bought a 22 rifle from an auction. The barrel's inside diameter is larger for the first 8- 9 inches or so and then gets smaller back to a regular 22 caliber size. Why is this? What sort of barrel is this? Or, why would someone bore out a barrel only halfway?
I should have been more specific. The wider inside diameter of the barrel is on the end, not where the gun loads. So to clarify again the wideness is where the bullet leaves the barrel when fired, the business end.
