Hi,
I saw my OBGYN yesterday (it had been a while) and spoke to him about my severe PMS and recurring migraines that I have been getting during that time. I have been getting Migraines with Aura since 4th grade, but over the years, discovered that they are both food related and/or hormone related. I went for a good number of years without the constant migraines, but within the past 9 months or so, they are back. It is like clockwork that I will get one either a few days before or 1 or 2 days after my period kicks in, so I know it is hormonal. Add to that, my PMS is also really bad as well.
He gave me a script for Lybrel, but after reading the indications, it says that I should not take Combined Oral Contraceptives if I get Migraine with Aura.
(I guess I should have specified migraine with aura vs. just "migraine". My bad - to me, I just call it a migraine.)
So the question is - Are there any other OCs I could take to help the Severe PMS as well as the Migraines (With aura)????
I am not looking for OC for pregnancy prevention - I am looking for it to help with the other things....
It was nice though, to have the added "side effect" of no longer having my period....THAT I was looking forward too...
I'm going to call tomorrow, but figured I could get some suggestions from folks tonight...
I am almost 38, non smoker....
ETA: For the Progesterone-only pills: do they stop your period like the Lybrel would have???
