what kind of paint do you use for splatter painting?

So my friend and i are going to purchase a big 'ol canvas and splatter paint it. You know the whole balloon and dart thing. But we weren't sure what kind of paint to use for this sort of thing so.. let me know if you have any ideas..

we were thinking acrylic, but it is not really liquidy enough...
