What kind of fish should I put in my 46 gallon fish tank?

I am undecided weather to start a schooling tank, or a comunity tank. I am lookinging into both. I have read alot about what kind of fish will mix well, but am really unsure. My main goal is to get fish that are strong enough to live a long life. I think the schooling fish are beautiful. I am maybe leaning toward thoes. Please help with any suggestions. My tank is not a salt water tank. Also, let me know which ones of your fish have lived a long life. Thanks.

i think comunity tanks are much more fun ya have a nice selection of fish to look at that have there own personalities.i have angels neon tetras ,guppies and zebra dianos.have a pleco to and corys they all get on well and love to watch them.good luck.
