Freudian Slip

I am 5 feet tall and looking for a bike to ride around campus. I want something cheap and simple, nothing extravagant. No 20-speed type thing. During the summer, I'll be riding it around my town to get to places so I hope to get good use out of it. However, being a college student I am on a tight budget and I don't want to have to ask my parents to dish the money out.
So, any advice on a small, cheap (possibly vintage??) bike to get around campus on, where to find one and a nice price range?
