I don't drive and would like a bike to get around when I'm not using public trans. I always see people riding the bikes with the thinner tires on the street. I don't want to get ripped off somewhere so I'd like to know what should I look for in a road bike? Single speed? Ten speed? What kind of tires? etc.?
What kind of bike do I need to ride at least a mile in Chicago most comfortably?
