What killed poetry, do you know?

Care to Explain?

Here lies poetry,
gone from his perch,
gone from their thoughts
gone forever.

He has been a king, a mountain, a river,
he has been a landfill, a whore, an inbred.

Whatever he chose to be, he was always enjoyed.

But what killed him?

Did he overdose on pain pills,
did he die in his sleep,
or did he simply jump out of a window.
In all honesty, what happened?
