So after college, university etc, I really want to get a job in photography of sorts.

The type? I wanna shoot live bands, I'm looking to do things like Sarah Dope (sarahdope.com), what jobs are available on the tours such as Warped, Taste Of Chaos etc, other than photography and promotions that will allow me to tour.

NOTE: it's not just so that I can tour with big bands, of course that's a part of it but I really do like the idea of touring, (I've done my research and seen that it's hard too), and I really want to get into that industry.

Take some journalism courses, and see about getting an internship with a magazine which covers bands... then work your way into the business that way.

Start shooting local venues. You can usually get permission to photograph inside bars, pubs, nightclubs and other locations where live bands play. Eventually (with prints in hand) you may be able to become the "official" photographer for some local bands.

All this will be for the goal of building a portfolio of "killer" concert images ... with that portfolio in hand then approach the managers of the larger venues in your area and ask them what you need to do to shoot for them ... eventually with your images showing up in various publications, you will be in a better position of attaining your goal

Just about everyone and everything couls use a photographer. The key is, if you live in an urban area or an area that has a large number of photographers is to find the niche you best fit.

Best thing to do is make sure that you are good. I mean, professional good. Then you might want to get a portfolio together and get an agent. Have them contact the band managers and see if they need an on-tour photographer.

It's either that or you have to know someone on the inside that is willing to give you the inside track.
