Studying this play for A-level and wondered if the soda is significant or is a representation of something else because they always - Blanche in particular - seem to be drinking soda!
I understand the double meaning of the cherry soda in scene 5 but fail to see why Williams repeatedly has Blanche drinking or asking for soda. Is it a dependency thing, like the alcohol? Or does the soda represent something else?
