what is your take on "don't ask, don't tell" rule in the military?

For the first time, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates is outlining potential Obama administration plans to enforce the "don't ask, don't tell" rule selectively so that some gays could serve in the military.
 
Its not like there are not gay people in the military already. I know of plenty of gay people who served the Armed Forces well. I thought this country was supposed to stand for freedom anyway. (You know, like freedom of speech)
People who are against rights for gay people hate the American ideals of freedom and equality.
And since there are very qualified gay people in the military who are needed to accomplish our goals abroad, people who want to weaken the military by taking these people out of service, obviously hate the military.
 
I think the current rule must stay for two reasons, to keep order in the military and gays would be attack daily by those who don't like them period. Also Congress is just going to sit of this issue and don't want GOP back in power.
 
I agree with the dont ask dont tell policy. It makes other soldiers a lot more comfortable with eachother. & being gay isnt something that should nessicarily ban you from joining because there is no way to enforce it.

And its the military......sexual preferences shouldnt even be a debate(even if your straight)....there are more important things to worry about then who likes who
 
Why would anyone ask someone there sexual preference, unless they wanted too have sex with them.

So don't ask and don't tell unless you think it's important that everyone should know your sexual preference.
