What is your restaurant coupon etiquette with friends?

My g/f and I are having a disagreement on etiquette using coupons with friends at a restaurant. There are usually 2 couples sometimes +1 . I'd appreciate ANYONE with an opinion or suggestion. Please don't be sarcastic or rude or you will be reported.

Here are a few examples. Feel free to include your own and what you think.
Keep in mind, what if the coupon expires soon? You have to use it or lose it in some cases.

1.) Buy 1 Get 1 free:
Does the person/couple with the coupon get the free item? Is the free item split between everyone? Do you buy something extra like a dessert or appetizer equal to the free item and split between everyone? Or maybe something else.

2.) Free dessert/appetizer:
Coupon bringer saves? Split the savings? Share the item? Share item and savings?

3.) gift certificate (GC) given by GM for poor food (no refund, got GC), bonus GC or a reward amount from frequent guest program:
Are you required to share the savings with the group since you didn't pay for the GC? Should you not use the GC? Use the GC towards what you owe?

4.) % off:
We both agree, the % off is given to the whole group and tip based on the pre-discount amount.

5.) Spend $X and save $Y:
If you don't spend $X do you split $Y? If you do spend $X do you still split $Y?

6.) Coupon used in whatever method:
Do you split EVERYTHING equally between EVERYONE regardless of who ordered what? If one couple orders liquor/steak and another has water/salad; what do you do? I say to be fair, you pay for what you ordered.

ANYONE, EVERYONE ... PLEASE HELP ME!
