and what school of thought or combination of schools of thought would it classify as??
Briefly the major schools of thought are:
1. Cyclical School which believes that history repeates itself, as Solomon said there is nothing new under the sun, also consider the idea that the Mayan's thought history occurs in repeating cycles.
2. Providential School: divine intervention guides or determines history.
3. Progressive School: that human history is about human progress and advancement, (neither cyclical nor with divine intervention)
My own understanding is that history is made up of all three, I definitely agree with the cyclical nature, but I think progress has been partial, and divine intervention rather limited; but I think my philosophy of history has components of all three.
