What is your opinion on the '08 Ford Edge?

I'm looking at a 2008 Edge SEL AWD. I don't know anything about the Edge, so I'm looking for your opinions! How well built is it? I live in a small Alaska town where the roads are not the best and there are a lot unmaintained roads, so I'm looking for something that will take the beating a little better than my Rav4, that unfortunately did not hold up to the Alaskan territory. :(
I've heard good things and bad things about the Edge, but there is one issue I've read about that concerns me a lot!
Has anyone had the wiring problem I've read about that apparently causes the engine to stall while driving?
Any braking problems? Heard a little about that too.

Please, let me know what you think of it and if I should go with it or not.
It has 36,500 miles on it and they are asking $21,995. KBB is $22,000.

Thank you all!

ABOUT THE PRICE I`M NOT SURE BUT ABOUT THE SUV TAKE WITH CLOSED EYES VERY VERY RELIABLE SUV I DO NOT LIKE ANYTHING MADE IN THE USA BUT THIS I LOVED IT TO A POINT THAT I LEASED ONE FOR THE BUSINESS LAST YEAR .

Well let's put it this way, my first Ford caught on fire and blew up and before that was being towed left and right. Since then I never bought a Ford ever again and I would suggest strongly that you stay completely away from Ford's unless you have plenty of money to blow out the window and enjoy fixing cars all the time. My uncle bought a Ford Tempo back in the day walked in the Dealership after seeing the advertised price of like $8.995.00 and ended up paying more than $14,000 for that piece of crap. You know why cause Ford uses the old bait and hook advertise a low price get em in the showroom and then bamboozle them with unnecessary gadgets that don't even exist on their cars. For example the car salesman at Ford told my uncle thar for an extra $500 he would be getting a "special" coating for the rust, ha, ha, ha!. My uncle paid over $1,000 for a supposed "special" insulation around the windows so that the car would be completely air tight, ha, ha, ha!. You know what the blue color on this piece of crap Ford started to fade after three years.
Don't believe the hype about Ford's. You will be in for a shocker if you buy one and you will be extremely unhappy after just a few months of driving this piece of crap. Another important thing that needs to mentioned here is the resale value, which is usually important to most car buyer. Well, I can tell you that Ford's have one of the worst resale values of any auto manufacturer around. Cars lose most of their value the first year. So, don't waste your time or money, unless that's what you like to waste. These Ford's are also not cheap to buy and much less to maintain. The only other thing that I can say to you is if you have OCD with a Ford than make damn sure you just lease and not buy one of those pieces of crap buckets. Lease it and read the fine print 10 times before you sign it otherwise you'll get railroaded with a nasty contract. It's not that I like Jap or German cars better but at least most accessories are included in the price and you played for a dummy.
Great car for your area a Honda CRV 4WD or a BMW X3.
