What is wrong with the alarm on my 92 Ford Explorer?

My Husband was driving it one day when the alarm just started to go off. Now it won't let us crank it at all. It makes the "DING DING" noise when we put the key in then it makes a "CLICK CLICK" when we try to start it. The clicking noise is coming from somewhere around the battery. Does anyone know what it could be and how it could be fixed? Thankss.
 
Umm sounds like the alarm is doing it's job, preventing the vehicle from being started. As far as a cost, best bet is to get it towed to an alarm shop and get an estimate.
