What is wrong with my radio, 10 points to first answer!?

I have a Panasonic Transistor Radio from the early 70's, but the volume is really quiet even on full blast. I dont have any headphones to try it, there is a disconnected black wire near the tuning dial, is that the problem? If so, where do I solder it back on to? Please help ASAP i cant go very long without music
