In my 1997 Pontiac Sunfire, the daytime running lights weren't working so I jiggled the fuse for them ( and other components, but that's beside the point) and they started working again. Now they aren't working and the dome light is acting up. It shuts off after I start the engine and comes back on 3-20 minutes later while I'm still driving, regardless of the dial to the left of the steering column that is supposed to control that and the brightness of the console. It does the same thing when I leave it alone for a couple hours. The only fuse that I can pull to permanently shut off the dome light also controls the speedometer, making operation of the vehicle illegal without it.
So, no damage is visible on the fuses, no problems have occurred involving the dome light prior, and the daytime running lights still don't work...
Any clues as to what I could do to fix this on my own? If not, I'm taking it to a professional next Friday.
