I have a 91 Jeep Wrangler YJ with the 2.5L engine and AX-5 manual transmission. Today, i pulled out of the gas station parking lot and suddenly, with no warning, there was a bang from the rear end and the jeep stopped. Engine revs, no movement. Put it in 4 wheel drive and it goes, so I assume it's my rear differential. Any one else have this happen? What differential component is most likely to have failed in this manner? BTW, the jeep has the Dana 35 diff and 35x12.5 tires.
