What is wrong with my Harley Davidson Sportster?

I went outside to start my bike the other day and it started but then it shut itself off without me touching it. Now it won't start an if I try the battery just dies. It sounds like everything is moving fine, it just won't turn over. What could be the problem? Its a 2004 Harley Davidson Sportster XL883
