I got a new flash drive about 2 months ago. A "PNY Mini Attaché" drive with 2gigs.
Not sure if this is relevant, but about two weeks ago, the plastic casing split along the seam and the board fell out. It still worked just fine, but I had to be careful not to let it come out of the casing.
Now today, I tried to make a new .txt file for notes and it said that the drive was unreadable. About five minutes later I tried again and it worked, only this time the new file was followed by 8 new files. The other 8 files all have gibberish unicode names (like ?âè`ª.?qñ or ű??ü*l.?¿) I can't delete them, but I have copied all the important files to a safe place. I scanned for viruses and spyware, I checked the disk for errors, and I even defragged the drive. Nothing is working. Do you know how to fix this or at least tell me how to wipe the drive?
