What is wrong with my betta fish?

I have a small pink betta fish about a year old. I keep him alone in a large goldfish bowl, with black marbles on the bottom. Recently he has not been swimming around the bowl, but laying on the bottom. His tails and fins are not spread out like normal but seems to be sticking together. Also, he has not been eating. He has always eaten the betta bio-gold pellets, but now he can't seem to catch it. He lounges at and either misses the pellets or can't seem to fit the pellets in his mouth. I've tried breaking the pellets into smaller pieces but the same thing happens. I change all the water every two weeks, using top fin water conditioner for bettas. So what is wrong with my betta? I don't want him to starve to death.

the same thing happened to mine, but mine was just really old, and if yours is about 2 years old, it is probably dieing of old age, i just got rid of mine after a while. :( it was sad

he may not be starving of food but maybe need more oxygen
try getting him a bubble ornament.
i know they say they can survive in a bowl but this doesnt mean they like it.
i bet you would see him improve
also do you test the water ???
as you still should

A bowl doesn't cut it, nor does a bi-weekly water change. He is likely suffering from a combination of ammonia poisoning, incorrect temperature, and then the shock of a full water change.

The best thing you can do for him is to purchase an appropriate habitat:
A single male betta does best in about a five gallon aquarium with gentle filtration and an aquarium heater. They are tropical fish and their water temperature should be maintained steadily between 77F-82F.

~Ess R~ A betta dying at age 2 is not old. Bettas can live 5-7 years.
