I have a '99 Honda Civic. Back in January while I was driving it the engine just turned off. I had to pull over and restart it. It continued doing it through out the months...no real pattern to when it happened. Sometimes it takes many tries of turning the keys to get the engine to start back up. The AC also turns off if I have it on. We took it to Auto Zone to have them hook it up to their computer to try to diagnose the problem, but they said that since the check engine light wasnt coming on they couldnt tell us anything. Well, the check engine light came on yesterday and I took it this morning to have it diagnosed for free at auto zone and it said that it was a transmission code. My husband says that those computers will almost always come up with a transmission code and that the transmission wouldnt be causing the engine to just turn off while I was driving. I was told that it may be the fuel filter, I replaced it in February and it didnt work. I cant afford to take it to a mechanic and spend up to 200 just to tell me what the problem is. Any advice??? Thanks!
