What is wrong with my 2003 Dodge Ram's AC?!?!?

With it being VERY hot lately, this problem has become a bigger concern. My AC blows. I mean, if I turn it on, there's air coming out of it. The problem is that it never gets cold. It's just air that only seems to get hotter the longer that it's on. The ONLY time it gets cold is if I'm stepping on the gas as I'm driving. I have to be driving though. I've been at a red light and put the truck on PARK and slowly hit the gas, and nothing happens. But, the minute that I start driving, it starts blowing the usual cold air. There's plenty of free-on in there, so I know it doesn't need any and I know that I don't have a leak. What else could be wrong? Please help!!
