what is wrong when acid reflux tests are normal, but still have acid?

I had this exact problem -- I had acid reflux symptoms continually and all the tests came back normal (I had the mamonetry, the 24 pH test, abdominal ultrasound, chest x-ray, endoscopy, colonscopy). My GI doctor said "I don't see any evidence that you have acid reflux". I said "well, I have something because I have these symptoms to various degrees every day". So he repeated the 24 hour pH test, and on the second test, it actually showed that I had a "significant amount of gastroesphageal reflux of acid" (I'm quoting from my actual report here). So I'm back on the Nexium and have been doing ok. I still have symptoms but they are manageable. Best of all, my doctor now believes me! So don't give up. Push for a second round of tests if need be.

I'm the same, lots of tests and no results, my problem is that even when I'm given the treatment ie Nexium, Losec and Zoton they don't give me any relief, I'm getting really depressed with it all, I have bad chest pain with it as well.

I'm close to the same way. My tests show very mild heartburn but my symptoms are so much more. I had an endoscopy and he could see inflammation but no evidence of any serious damage (thankfully). However I have had two different Upper GIs and when they roll me around it "barely" comes up into the esophogus. I KNOW it's coming up farther than that when I get coughing fits and my voice starts to go out. It's the same treatment either way, it just feels like you can't be completely "validated".

Its sooooooooooo frustrating when you have really bad symtoms and then you get tested and it comes back either negitive or mild reflux when you know your really suffering.
