What is up with ford in america?

In Europe the big thing has been ford cosworth, and rightfully so. The cars make awesome horsepower, are light and reliable, and use relatively little gas (compared). My question is when will ford break down and built 16v turbocharged beast for america. Cosworth tuning would also be the button on the bonnet...lol
I think that the sierra cosworth has the be the meanest machine ever built
 
American's don't want small cars or small engines.

Ford did put a twin turbo V6 in the Taurus. They claim it has the power of a V8 and the mileage of a V6. However the EPA and most reviews say it gets V8 like mileage. At least it does have V8 like power.
