What is this type of art called?

I'm sorry I don't have a picture..but we drew giant pictures and colored them with crayons in art class. Then we poured some black..tar looking type of paint on the pictures and used a little wooden thing with a sharp metal point (sort of like a pencil but with no lead) and scraped some of the black stuff off to outline the details. I think it's called something with an S? >.<'
 
Im not sure what its called, but I know what your talking about they sell them at AC Moore. Its a black top and there is a drawing underneath and you have to scrape the black off in order to see the image which is usually printed on something gold or silver.
