What is this sharp pain in the center of my chest?

I have this sharp pain in the center of my chest. When I sit up or even when I make a move it feels as if my chest is getting crushed or cracking. I don't really know how to describe it, but if someone could give me an explanation that would be great! Oh and before someone says "just go to your doctor." just want to see if this was something that would stop or if I need to get it checked out and why..
