I'm pretty sure it was one of the World Series Baseball games, and I'm leaning towards '96.
The only thing that really stands out was when you hit a home run, on the scoreboard there was an animation of a baseball with a face and it would scream.

As I said, the ONLY thing that stands out is the scoreboard scene when you hit a homerun. ~ If I knew more details about the game I'm sure I would find it on my own.
