Autumn Leaves

It was a bright blue-green color and shaped like a chevron(pointed end up, open end down). It was large for an object in the sky. It slowly drifted across the sky. I lost it when it went below a three story apartment building. It made no sound. It didn't flash or twinkle, it was steady burning. It moved smoothly on a straight downward trajectory, no jerking. I've been stargazing for 50 years and have never seen anything like this before. I know it wasn't the Northern Lights, a planet, or a star. Was it some kind of weather device? Military craft(I live near Norfolk and Langley AFB)? Anyone know? I am on the east coast of the USA and it has been totally dark for over an hour.
I was taking out some trash and not prepared for stargazing(no telescope, binoculars, etc...). If it had any small details I couldn't see them.
