I remember it when I was young so we're talking 70s/80s possibly.

Was a horror in the Piranha type genre - but with ants. Killer ants.

I remember them being in this house, thinking they were safe but then the ants got in. They were breathing through tubes made from wallpaper.

Any ideas?
 
SounRAB like Empire of The Ants to me. Starred Joan Collins and made in the late 70s. It's (I think) based on an HG Wells story. Anyway, that's the first movie that springs to mind from your description - it's very Piranha-esque :)
 
It Happened At Lakewood Manor rings a bell so I'm guessing it was that one but Phase IV is a possible.

Lord, I'm gonna have to try and find them now :eek:
