I remember reading a book that I really liked in middle school but now I can't remember it's title or the author's name. I think I read it in about 1999 approximately.
The things I remember from it are that it was set in a place where families were limited to having only three children by the government, and the main character was a fourth child whose parents were hiding him. If I'm remembering correctly I think his name was John and his three older brothers were Matthew, Mark, and Luke. (That might not be right but that's how I remember it.) In the book the boy has to stay hidden all day at home by himself while his brothers go to school and his parents go to work. He notices movement in the next door neighbor's house and finally works up the courage to investigate. He find's a girl his age there and it turns out she is also a hidden fourth child. I don't remember any of what happens after that, but I remember it being a really good book and I would like to re-read it.
So if anyone thinks they know what book that was, please give me the title and author. I would very much appreciate it!
