What is there to do at 29 palms?

I am headed to 29 palms for my first duty station for the marines and was wondering if anyone knew of things to do in the area that can keep me occupied. Also is there just marines on base or is there other branches on base? Is there any bars, restaurants, etc in the town? Any info would be good
