I was told to have it fix for my mazda 2000 mpv converter for 1200! That is too much, should I not fix it?

What is a ''''mpv''' converter ---- perhaps you mean catalytic converter. GO TO THE MUFFLER SHOP and talk to them and say nothing --- let the shop tell you what is wrong and get a price to FIX the problem .. Sometimes it is best to play dumb and find out what's to do to get your car in proper running order... AND yes $1200.00 is too much to pay,, so wait and find an honest mechanic ... another thing that you can do is go to the local auto supply parts store and discuss this problem with the parts counter dude -- those guys are helpful and they don't sell you parts that will be wrong or not fix yo ride ....... ask around

take it to your local muffler shop. they can replace it for around 200 to 300 hundred. get a quote first
