A friend and I want to hike through the really unpopulated areas of Maui, mostly the Northwest part of island until we get to the west coast, and then kayak to Molokai. We don't have a lot of hiking or kayaking experience, but we're already committed to going, so exactly how difficult would it be to try and cross the island where there aren't many trails? And what about the kayak trip, how dangerous is this? Also, any recommendations for stuff to do instead on Maui?
