I go to Virginia Tech and am trying to get rid of all loans that are automatically applied to my account (they are there because of a mandatory FAFSA for scholarships). I see there is a financial award listed under my Hokiespa account as the "VA Guar Asst Program" worth $1,250 per semester for 2 semesters. I obviously don't want to pay interest on a loan I don't need, so i am wondering what exactly it is. Sorry it is an abbreviation, but I think it stands for Virginia Guaranteed Assistance Program. Thanks for any help.
