what is the U.S. waitng for to allow diesel engines such as toyota d4d,bmw,

land rover, audi,etc ect. ? they are way cleaner than most petrol engines allowed in the U.S and everybody has them. they are cleaner, quicker,more efective than petrol now a days! and the torque they deliver... my question arose because i live in the states but i recently traveles all over the world and saw what we are missing. anyone have an idea? thaxn!
just read a review in car and driver...i think the experts agree with me. we need diesels now.
