I can remember once seeing open ended milk cartons placed over celery plants. I was told this encourages the nice long stalks as the plants continues to reach for the sun. I have just put in some celery plants and was wondering if I should be doing the same and at what stage of growth do I cover them. My seedlings have been in the ground now for approx 3 weeks and have only just survived the extreme heat we have encountered here in South Australia.
What is the trick to growing good celery in a temperate climate?
