A sealed bottle of 'hard lemonade' (lemonade with alcohol in it) is in a liquid-vapour equilibrium state at 298.15 K. The liquid phase contains 250 mL of 5.40% alcohol (v/v) (meaning that for every 100 mL of solution, 5.4 mL is pure ethanol) The number of moles of solution in the vapour phase is one tenth the number of moles of the liquid phase and the ethanol composition of the vapour phase is 0.735. It is also known that the density of water is 1.000 g/mL (M.W. = 18.015 g/mol) and the density of ethanol is 0.789 g/mL (M.W. = 46.07 g/mol). What is the total composition, (z) for ethanol in this system? You can ignore the effects of the sugar and other components in this mixture and treat the solution as an ideal water-ethanol solution.
