(description available)? I had just recently read the book, so the plot is fresh in my mind.. but I returned it to the library before I could remember the title.. -_- silly, I know. But if you have the answer, I would be SO grateful.
It's about a 16 year-old girl named Kerstin, who's father is named Morgan. The book is a sequel to another book, but I can't remember that name either! And there is a third book in the series!
Kerstin can perform magic, her father, Morgan, is a wizard, and her goal to become the youngest wizard ever. Her home country is called Freya, and the neighboring countries are Uglessia and Islandia(formerly known as Misty Isles). Islandia has a greater power and knowledge on healing, so Kerstin goes with her father to learn their magic. There she discovers a major difference with her customs and Islandia's customs. Kerstin is used to male dominance in the area of magic and wizards, but in Islandia, it is believed that women can only have the ability to use magic, they do not easily accept the idea that men could have magic. Although this would have seemed right to Kerstin, it bothers her that the leaders in magic would ostracize the opposite sex in matters of magic because she has experienced it herself in her own homeland. She meets a young boy named Raven who has magic and is determined to have the Wise Womens(the women with magic) accept the fact that either sex could have magic.
Kerstin is very knowledgeable in weather magic. Her kind of magic(taught in Freya) needs chants, spells, or incantations. The magic in Islandia is more of the mind.
I had thought the author was Tanith Lee, but I was wrong. If you know the title of the first book of the series, it's about Kerstin discovering the true natures of Uglessians, who have been shunned and closed off from Freyan society because of their strange appearance and culture. Kerstin finds a way to unite both people peacefully after solving the strange disappearance of winds that would have brought rain to Freya, which caused a drought.
the title has something to do with wind.. -_- but I can't remember.. I feel so angry.. and even more curious of what this title is. I also want to read the third book.
So I hope that could clear anyone's memories, please help me! >.<
