I believe I was in eighth grade when our reading teacher handed out a copy of a poem. It was entitled something along the lines of "Lament of an Ordinary Child." I'm fairly sure "lament" was the first word and "child" was the last, although I'm not 100% positive. I've always assumed it was the adjective I was getting wrong.

Anyway, the entire poem is about what it sounds like. There's this completely unremarkable child who's upset over the fact that he/she never gets any attention because he/she is never really bad and isn't really smart and isn't particularly great at any one thing that would make them interesting. I don't recall what point of view it was written in. I don't recall the author's name.

If anyone could give me the correct name of the poem I would be grateful. A link or name of a book it was published in would be even more fantastic. Thanks.
