What is the title/author of a sci-fi novel from Europe narrated by a brain in a

laboratory? This is a novel I read years ago. All I remember is that a brain is the main character and everything is narrated from his perspective in a laboratory where he is hooked up to machinery that makes it possible for him to communicate with the scientists that are studying him. It was translated from a European lanuage, possibly Swedish, but maybe something else.
