I was recently served papers for a lawsuit for medical services that I had received. There were two separate dates of treatment - one from early 2006 and one from 2009. Both are listed in the legal documents I was served with.
While I do realize that I incurred the debt and it is my responsibility, I am the sole income for our household of 4 and like many others families, we get by from check to check. If I could lessen the amount that I have to settle or be judged for, it would help immensely.
What I am wondering is if the services from 2006 would be considered past the state statute of limitations.
If so, how would I petition to have them removed from the filing?
What would be the odds of the suing attorney agreeing to a pre-hearing settlement and dropping the (presumably) past-SoL debt?
