I am studying the musical Cabaret at the moment, but for the time being a mainly focusing on the musical number " Mein Herr", I fantastic song in my opinion!
- What are some of the symbols uses in this song, how does this song relate to what is going on in the story.
- What does " Mein Herr" Mean?
- When she says "a tiger is a tiger not a lamb", what does this mean? How does this relate to the story line?
- Whats the point of the line " You'll never turn the vinegar to jam", whats the meaning of that ?
- Is she talking about selling herself? prostituting herself? If so why i she saying " Bye" and that it was " a fine affair, though now it's over"?
- Whats it mean when she says " you mustn't knit your brow"?
- When she goes on about Europe and that it is so wide, up and down as well as side to side, what does she mean? what is the point of this? How does this relate to the story of cabaret?

Bye-bye, mein Lieber Herr,
Auf wiedersehen, mein Herr.
Es war sehr gut, mein Herr
Und vorbei.
Du kennst mich wohl, mein Herr,
Ach, lebe wohl, mein Herr.
Du sollst mich nicht mehr sehen,
Mein Herr.

- What is she saying here? Is she just saying goodbye but in different languages?
- What does "Lieber" mean?
