What is The "right way" to swap engines in a 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis?

I am going to be buying a new/used engine for my Marquis and i would like to know what to look for on the new/used engine to be sure all of the old hookups for my old engine will fit correctly to the new/used one. Thanks For the help!
