What is the relationship between Ford and Ford of Britain?

I read a comment in a blog reviewing the new Focus RS in Europe and it responded to an American's comment asking why Ford doesn't just sell those European cars over here, and they said it is because Ford of Britain uses European engineers and designers.

If this is true, what is the relationship between the companies then? Is Ford just a name applied to a totally different company or is it truly the Ford we know here in America, but producing different cars for a different market. Honestly I can't wait for the Euro models to hit our shores, I wish they had a long time ago.
 
Ford in europe and ford in the us are the same company, fords made in europe , conform to eu standards and fords made in the usa must meet NTSB standards , you will not see eu standard vehicles on american highways any time soon.
